MOVIES IN THE PARK on Friday, June 25th

The City of Allentown’s “Movies in the Parks” series seen on a giant inflatable outdoor screen continues its third season on Friday, June 25 when “The Blind Side” takes to the screen at Roosevelt Park on S Filmore and Saucon Streets in Allentown.


Saundra Bullock stars in this remarkable true story of Michael Oher, a homeless African-American youngster from a broken home. Michael was taken in by a wealthy white family who helped him fulfill his potential as a person and as an athlete. He worked hard on the field and in the classroom and became an All-American in college and was picked in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft, changing his life and the lives of the loving family who were there to watch him succeed.


The public is invited to bring a blanket or lawn chairs to enjoy the movie. The show begins at dusk.

Recreation Bureau Annouces Pools & Spray Parks Schedule Summer 2010

The Allentown Department of Parks & Recreation will open the following pools starting this Saturday June 12th. Cedar Beach Pool - 101 N. Ott St., Jordan Pool - 201 N. 6th St, Irving Pool -731 N. Irving St.

Mack Pool- 1901 Mack Blvd.will be open Saturday June19th.

All Pools are open 12:00pm-6:45pm Monday -Sunday.


Buck Boyle Spray Park and the  5th and Allen Spray Park opened June 5th and are open 12pm- 7pm Monday-Sunday.

Postponed today due to weather forcast, will show Friday June 11th

The City of Allentown’s “Movies in the Parks” series seen on a giant inflatable outdoor screen continues its third season on Friday, June 4 when “Monsters vs. Aliens” takes to the screen at Union Terrace Park on South St. Elmo Street in Allentown.

When a meteorite from outer space hits a young girl and douses her with the alien liquid Quantonium, it turns her into a 48-foot monster. She is taken to a secret government compound where she meets a ragtag group of monsters also rounded up over the years. This crew of reluctant heroes is asked to save the earth from the evil alien Gallaxhar in this animated comedy.

The voices of Reese Witherspoon, Seth Rogen, Hugh Larie and Amy Poehler are among those featured in this 2009 film of just more than 90 minutes.

The public is invited to bring a blanket or lawn chairs to enjoy the movie. The show begins at dusk.
